WHY IS STICK LENGTH IMPORTANT?
The length affects how you move on the court, how close you get to the ball, and how effectively you can shoot, dribble, and pass. A properly adjusted stick improves your technique and prevents unnecessary strain on your back and wrists.
HOW TO MEASURE THE RIGHT LENGTH OF THE STICK
Place the stick vertically on the floor in front of you. The optimal length is when the shaft reaches somewhere between the navel and the chest bone. For younger players, it can be good to start with a slightly longer stick – but never above chest height.

ADJUST ACCORDING TO PLAYING STYLE
· Shooter/player with reach: Longer stick = more power and coverage.
· Defenders: Often choose longer sticks for coverage and passing reach.
· Forwards: Often prefer slightly shorter sticks for speed and technique.
TIPS WHEN BUYING
· Sticks are often measured in total length (including blade) – double-check what is specified!
· Some manufacturers state only the shaft length, so there may be differences between models. Unihoc always provide both lengths.
· Unsure? Choose a slightly longer stick and cut it down (see guide on cutting the shafts).
