How to change the grip on your floorball stick

The gripband on your floorball stick has a limited lifespan and will need to be replaced, often multiple times a season. How often you will need to change your gripband depends on use frequency, playstyle, and personal preferences.

Step-by-step guide on how to replace your gripband for your floorball stick:

We have created a guide to make the replacement as easy as possible. This guide has both visual and written guidance. If you have never replaced a gripband on a floorball stick before, it may be helpful to ask an experienced coach or teammate for assistance.

1. Unwrapping the old gripband:

1. Start by preparing a new gripband and a pair of scissors.

2. First, remove the rubber ring located at the end of the gripband.

3. Use the pair of scissors or a knife to release the tape located under the rubber-ring. You do not need to save the tape, you will get a new one with your new gripband.

4. When you have loosened the tape from the grip, it is time to start unwrapping the gripband.

Note: Sometimes the glue on the backside of the gripband may get stuck to the shaft of the floorball stick. We recommend using a knife or another sharp object to carefully remove any adhesive residue that remains attached to the shaft. This way, it will be much easier for you to remove the old gripband without ripping it apart.

2. Preparing your new gripband:

1. When you have unwrapped your old gripband, you should check your shaft and make sure that no glue residue is stuck to the shaft. Having no residue on the shaft is important for a better result when wrapping your new gripband.

2. Take the new gripband out of the packaging and unroll it to its full length.

Note: Our gripbands have two plastic films. One on the front where you hold the floorball stick. And one on the back which is the adhesive side that you use to wrap the gripband to the shaft.

3. Remove the plastic film located on the FRONT of the gripband. Let the one on the back be for now.

4. Start by CAREFULLY and gradually removing the plastic film from the BACK. The adhesive is very strong and removing the whole plastic film makes it harder to get the gripband the way you want it. Working gradually will also give you better control during the wrapping process.

5. Now you can start wrapping your gripband.

Note: How you want to wrap your gripband is up to you, there is no right or wrong. For a visual guide showing how our Production Manager Robert applies a gripband, watch the video tutorial. For the written guidance, continue reading:

3. Wrapping your new gripband:

1. Start by wrapping the gripband around the end cap of the shaft. That is the hardest part of the wrapping. Make sure the first two wraps are pulled tight, as this helps the gripband attach securely to the shaft. You will need to apply firm tension throughout the process to achieve the best possible result and prevent creases from forming.

2. Continue wrapping the gripband down the shaft and continuously stretch it to prevent creases.

Note: You can decide yourself how stiff or soft you want your grip to feel depending on how hard or loose you wrap your gripband.

The amount of material that needs to be cut off depends on the length of your stick. This is because our gripbands are made to fit all our stick models.

4. Finishing steps in the wrapping of the gripband:

1. Once you have reached the desired grip position and made your final wrap with the gripband, make a diagonal cut with your scissors. This will help create the straightest possible finish.

2. Take the finishing tape included with your new gripband and apply it to the end of your gripband, that is, the end where you finished your wrapping. This is to prevent the end from loosening but also for a tidier finish.

3. Roll the rubber ring in place over the piece of tape to make sure that it holds in place.

ALL DONE!
